An Exploration of Self
 5-week meditation course
Mondays 19:30-21:15 CET
October 6th-November 3rd, 2025

We live in a sages, mystics and philosophers over the times have talked about the importance of knowing ourselves. Plato proclaimed: Know Thyself. The revered Indian teacher Ramana Maharshi's approach to happiness and waking up is all about inquiring: Who Am I?

One of the core Buddhist teachings is Anatta, which is often translated as NOT SELF.

Modern neuroscience offers many perspectives, but a prominent view is that the experience of a stable, unified self is an illusion created by the brain's complex processes, rather than a solid entity.

*

We live in a time and a culture of individualism, of narcissism even. And yet, we crave shared experiences, community and to be seen and heard.

For many, the idea of 'losing oneself' might seem scary, yet, we lose ourselves all the time and it's usually a very pleasant experience, one we look for, when we dance, listen to music, have sex, rock climb or do drugs.

Being self-conscious, on the other hand, is not a pleasant experience.

What can we learn from the old wisdom traditions? And are there pitfalls to avoid?

*

If you're interested in approaching the mystery of being, asking big and difficult questions without necessary finding answers and also, practicing ways of looking for that illusory self, this course is for you.
